Last night saw grand finale of the annual New Zealand Body Art Awards in Auckland. Themed ‘The Future’ this year extravaganza showcased some amazingly creative body art in both contemporary and indigenous styles, as well as special effects make up for film and television.
Number of very talented and hardworking New Zealand artists practicing this art form displayed their fantastic creations. This award winning event provides a platform for artists who may otherwise not have the opportunity to display their art.
The 24 years old Sofia Bue Pederson, whose first entrance was only last year, was this year’s winner. Sofia was born and raised in Denmark where she worked as a children’s face painter in Danish Legoland before she ventured into body painting. She moved to New Zealand three years ago and is planning more work for Weta Workshop, a company in charge of the costumes and special effects of the Lord of the Ring, The Hobbit, King Kong and Avatar films.
Enjoy some of those amazing creations!
